The ISM program has already turned out to be a very exciting program and this is just the first two weeks. Looking ahead I can tell it's only going to get more exciting from here. However I think I am about to take on a lot of work to make sure everything goes great.
Despite the fact that my introduction speech went smoothly, I have to work on using the notecard less and memorise a lot more. I won't always have a notecard to write on and while they help me organise my thoughts properly to keep myself from going off topic, it can look unprofessional to rely on a notecard in interviews and I definitely cannot fit a 30 minute speech on notecards without looking a little unprepared. I will have to become more collected and organised with my thoughts before venturing into professional jobs and professional speaking roles.
Now for the fun part, figuring out my topic. I was always having this internal struggle between Law and Medicine when applying and what specification to work on if I did get accepted. Ultimately I chose law because it was a field of study that I had been interested prior to my
interest in the medical field. As for specification, I have always wanted to travel the world and have been educating myself on current global affairs for some time so as of right now that seems like the perfect place to start.
I have learned a lot of useful things from this program so far but my biggest takeaway is just the opportunity I am presented with to go out into this world of opportunity and make my own professional story right now.
